1. How long have they been in business?
Contractors who have been in operation for many years have certainly worked through a lot of growing pains including recessions, market downturns, and boom markets. Experienced companies have proven processes, systems, and controls in place to ensure the right materials are chosen, the project is on time, and within your budget.

2. Who will oversee the project?
The contractor should be very involved in your project from start to completion. If you were to call your contractor, he/she should always know the status of your project, as early as the estimating phase. In addition, ask about the staff. Who will you be working with regularly?
